2025-2026 Course

During this course we continued progressing at basic level, working on flamenco technique and progressively increasing the difficulty of the exercises and choreographies.

The work carried out during the course helped to reinforce the knowledge acquired in previous years and to continue developing footwork, compás, marcajes, arms, turns and coordination.

2024-2025 Course

During the 2024-2025 course, the classes were taught by Esther Vélez as choreographer and Juana Márquez as second teacher, with good coordination between them.

During the first term, we worked on the four-count compás of the Garrotín. For the choreography, we used the Cordobés hat, a traditional accessory for this palo. We worked on different marcajes, remates, paseos and movements with the hat. The choreography was performed at the Christmas gala.

During the second term, we moved on to Tangos, using the track “Como el agua” by Camarón de la Isla. The students particularly enjoyed this choreography, and the work previously done with the Garrotín compás helped them continue progressing while learning the new palo.

The choreography was performed at the final show in June. See the Tangos choreography “Como el agua”

2023-2024 Course

Level 2 is designed for students who have already studied flamenco for one or two years and want to continue progressing in their training.

During this course, Esther Vélez was the choreographer and Juana Márquez the second teacher. Their coordination made it possible to work progressively on technique and choreographies.

During the first term, we worked on Bulerías, using a track by Manuel de Paula, “Cantarrana”, at a medium tempo. We worked on paseos, marcajes, remates and simple pataítas. The result was a dynamic and enjoyable choreography that was performed at the Christmas gala.

The choreography was also recorded for the online classes, and the same students later took part in a promotional video. See the Bulerías choreography

During the second term, we worked on Fandango using the track “Calle Real” by Camarón de la Isla. In this choreography, we incorporated more stylised resources and more difficult steps, continuing the progression of the level.

The choreography was performed at the final show in June.

2022-2023 Course

The students at this level already had a previous technical foundation, so during the course we continued reinforcing it in order to keep progressing.

We progressively increased the complexity and speed of the footwork, as well as working on body quiebros, hip movements and turns.

During the first term, we worked on “Zorongo gitano” by Carmen Linares. The four-count compás was already familiar to the students, but on this occasion we worked at a faster tempo and with greater complexity, requiring more coordination.

The choreography was performed in December.

During the second term, we worked on a twelve-count compás, specifically Soleá por Bulerías. Although the compás was not particularly fast, the character of this palo presented a greater challenge, as it required strength, expressiveness and a certain sense of firmness and rigidity in the movements.

The choreography used was “El príncipe de la Alameda” by Israel Fernández. During the second and third terms, we continued working on and perfecting the material learned, reviewing the Zorongo choreography practically every day.

2021-2022 Course

During the first term, we worked on a choreography por Alegrías to the track “Las Puertas de Gades” by Encarna Anillo.

We began by reinforcing the technique previously worked on, especially work on the twelve-count compás and mixed compases.

Throughout the course, we practised footwork exercises every day, progressively increasing their complexity and speed as the group progressed.

We also worked on different variations of arm exercises, body quiebros and hip movements applied to different marcajes.

In addition, we worked on variations of marcajes and short sequences over the twelve-count compás, with the aim of continuing to develop coordination and mastery of the compás.

2020-2021 Course

The Level 2 students already had some previous flamenco training, so during this course we continued working daily on technique and the different compases.

During the first term, we worked on a choreography por Alegrías to the track “La noche no se me acaba” by Alicia Gil.

We also prepared a Christmas carol por Bulerías for Christmas.

During the second term, we worked on the binary compás por Tanguillos de Cádiz, paying particular attention to its lively and festive character.

The choreography was created using the track “Tanguillos de Cádiz”, from the CD Baile Flamenco by José Galván.

During the third term, we worked on the ternary compás, with a Fandango by Camarón de la Isla, specifically “Fandangos de Huelva – De Alosno”.
