Learn to dance Bulerias. Course description

In this course, learn to dance Bulerias. We work in parts what makes up a choreography for bulerias known as “pataita por bulerias”, those parts are: “marcajes, remates de letras y llamadas”.

Knowing each choreographic part and mastering the beat, the student can create their own choreographic composition to participate when a bulería sounds.

After completing this course, you will have more mastery of the beat, since it is explained where to use each choreographic part with the music so that you can improvise and enjoy this festive dance.

A basic level choreography

This Bulerias Resources course is created for a basic level and we recommend acquiring the course previously 1.7 Recursos por Bulerías. However, it can be perfectly acquired by a student of any level.

With this course, with work and practice, any student can learn to dance Bulerias.

After working this course, mastery of the compás will be obtained, we will know how to use the stage space and interpret the Bulerias to be danced.

La Bulería is perhaps the most popular flamenco style of all. Its festive, happy, rhythmic and melodic character invites participation, improvisation and unleashing flamenco expression.

Choreographic terms used in dance through bulerias and that we study in this course:

Marcaje

I finish used in the choreographies when the music is danced, adorning it with movements and being the most relaxed part of a choreography.

Foot and arm movements are combined, changing and qualifying according to the music or need of the interpreter and her choreography.

There is no exact number of repetitions of a marking, in the measure you can start or end in the number that interests at the time of execution, but always keeping the measure of the flamenco style that is danced at that time (the expression marking is used in all flamenco styles). On this occasion our markings are by bulerias and they are danced and choreographed in the 12-beat measure.

Remate

In dance, the different cadences that are performed at the conclusion of a rudeness or an entire dance are known as topping.

It is usually used in the rhythmic, melodic or harmonic cadence in flamenco music. The auction is usually started at the beginning of the measure, but it can start or be used anywhere in a measure since it depends on where that silence or cadence that we have indicated before occurs. In bulería there may be a finish:

• When there is a break in the cante, the bailaor can finish to fill in that silence that does not usually last more than one or two measures.
• At the end of a letter to end a dance and sing sequence. Thus, they will end up together in music and movement, creating effect and union between song and dance.

Llamada

It is a step with a lot of emphasis that serves to notify the musicians that your dance or a part of it is beginning. It normally begins at the beginning of the measure and the call is prepared at the end of the previous measure with an exaggerated gesture or movement to attract attention and warn the musicians and the cante that we are going to execute it.

In bulería it is usually used before a letter begins, in order to make a ‘change of third’, or to conclude or begin a part of the choreography. Always to the beat, something essential for any flamenco dance and movement.

Which are the requirements?

• It is not necessary that you have a high level of Flamenco technique to be able to carry out this choreography.
• The use of flamenco dance shoes is essential. You can get any flamenco product by following this link.
• It is advisable that you have space and a mirror.
