David Pérez
David Pérez is an established flamenco dancer who occupies a fundamental space in the international flamenco dance scene.
The companies with which she has collaborated are countless, although it is worth highlighting the show “En clave de 6” directed by José Luis Ortiz Nuevo, together with Javier Barón, Esperanza Fernández and Manolo Franco; “Vaivenes” and “Dos voces para un baile” by Javier Barón, with the guitarist Niño de Pura, Manolo Franco and Carlos Piñana; the Closing of the Rome Biennale 2009 with the show “Noche de Sevilla” alongside Antonio Canales, Milagros Mengibar, Pastora Galván and José de la Tomasa among others; the show “4 Noches” at the Seville Flamenco Biennial 2008; the show “Suspiro Flamenco” by the dancer Manuela Carrasco; the shows “Bailaografías” and “Del Corazón al Tacón” in which she was dance partner of “El Mistela”; the show “Carmen” by Salvador Távora; the show “Andalusia, Flamenco and Humanity” directed by Mario Maya; the show “Fiesta Gitana” by Curro Vélez; and collaborations with the companies of Loli Flores, Carmelilla Montoya, Lalo Tejada, Rafael Campallo, Rocío Bazán, María Serrano, Isabel Bayón, and Milagros Mengibar, among others.
Since his beginnings, he has been in demand at various tablaos such as “El Arenal,” “Los Gallos,” “Casa de la Memoria,” “Patio Sevillano,” and “Casa Patas.”
In 2009, he premiered his first solo show, “Flamencos,” at the Jerez Flamenco Festival. With this show, he subsequently toured Turkey, the Netherlands, Asia, and more. He has also performed in countries such as Kenya, Nairobi, and Kuwait.
Since then, she has presented several shows that have been very well received by both the public and specialized critics: “Primer Amor” with flamenco dancer Luisa Palicio and under the direction of David Montero; “D2” with La Choni; and “Puntal,” with which she currently continues performing at national and international festivals such as Lille (France), Rose and Sofia (Bulgaria), etc., or at the tablao “El Flamenco” in Tokyo, where it performed for six months.
She has represented Spain through the corresponding embassies in France and the Netherlands, St. Louis, Chicago, Mexico, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Morocco, etc.; He has showcased his projects and collaborations at festivals in countries such as Düsseldorf (Germany), Istanbul, Ankara and Antalya (Turkey), the Ibérica Festival (Czech Republic), the Cante de Las Minas International Festival, Mont de Marsan (France), Montellano (Cádiz), Joaquín el de La Paula, Antonio Mairena, Marchena, Tomares, Almería, among others; and in series and programs such as Los Veranos Del Carbón, + Jóvenes +Flamencos, Flamenco Viene del Sur, CICUS Sevilla, Suma Flamenca, and the Seville Flamenco Biennial.
As a dancer and choreographer, he has worked with Masamy Okada’s Japanese Company, the Turkish-flamenco fusion show “Anatolia,” and in Falla’s “Amor Brujo” with the Balkan Orchestra and under the direction of Jorg Birhance.
He recently presented his new large-scale show, “De Arte,” in which he is accompanied by dancers Maria Jose León, Rocio Alcaide, Carmen Gonzalez, and Inma Luna, guitarists Manuel de la Luz and Fran Roca, and the vocals of Sebastian Sanchez and Bernardo Miranda.
As a teacher, he has taught courses all over the world and currently combines his travels abroad with teaching at the Manuel Betanzos Academy.
