Course Description – Bulerías Initiation
In this course, you’ll learn a full choreography, Bulerías Initiation. Originally designed for our in-person beginner students, it’s now available online so you can enjoy learning this joyful and expressive flamenco style from anywhere.
The music is “Cantarrana” by the renowned cantaor from Lebrija, Manuel de Paula, from his album “Como Oro en Paño.”
Dancers featured in the promo video: Manuela Vega, Mari Carmen Medina, Mari Carmen Moreno, Carmen Ramos, Encarni Aparicio, María Rodríguez, Inmaculada Casablanca, and Cristina Guijarro.
One of the lessons includes a stage version of the choreography — complete with scenic movement, walking patterns, and a full-group performance to give you a global view of the dance.
Structure of the Choreography – Bulerías initiation
The track features a catchy chorus that repeats several times, along with mid-tempo letras — perfect for building your foundations in Bulerías with a manageable rhythm.
What is Bulerías?
Bulerías is one of Flamenco’s most vibrant and dynamic styles. It’s known for its lively rhythm and freedom of expression. The lyrics often tell stories from daily life — from intense love to heartbreak — capturing the full range of human emotion.
Improvisation is a key part of Bulerías, which means each performance is a unique, spontaneous moment filled with duende. It’s a style that invites joy, courage, and a deep connection between dancer, music, and audience.
