For the choreography, we used the <strong>Cordob\u00e9s hat<\/strong>, a traditional accessory for this palo. We worked on different marcajes, remates, paseos and movements with the hat. The choreography was performed at the Christmas gala.<\/p>\n<p>During the second term, we moved on to <strong>Tangos<\/strong>, using the track <strong>\u201cComo el agua\u201d by Camar\u00f3n de la Isla<\/strong>. The students particularly enjoyed this choreography, and the work previously done with the Garrot\u00edn comp\u00e1s helped them continue progressing while learning the new palo.<\/p>\n<p>The choreography was performed at the final show in June. <a href=\"https:\/\/estudioflamenco.com\/en\/producto\/1-11-tangos-course\/\">See the Tangos choreography \u201cComo el agua\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<h3>2023-2024 Course<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Level 2<\/strong> is designed for students who have already studied flamenco for one or two years and want to continue progressing in their training.<\/p>\n<p>During this course, <strong>Esther V\u00e9lez<\/strong> was the choreographer and <strong>Juana M\u00e1rquez<\/strong> the second teacher. Their coordination made it possible to work progressively on technique and choreographies.<\/p>\n<p>During the first term, we worked on <strong>Buler\u00edas<\/strong>, using a track by Manuel de Paula, <strong>\u201cCantarrana\u201d<\/strong>, at a medium tempo. We worked on paseos, marcajes, remates and simple pata\u00edtas. The result was a dynamic and enjoyable choreography that was performed at the Christmas gala.<\/p>\n<p>The choreography was also recorded for the online classes, and the same students later took part in a promotional video. <a href=\"https:\/\/estudioflamenco.com\/en\/producto\/1-12-bulerias-initiation\/\">See the Buler\u00edas choreography<\/a><\/p>\n<p>During the second term, we worked on <strong>Fandango<\/strong> using the track <strong>\u201cCalle Real\u201d by Camar\u00f3n de la Isla<\/strong>. In this choreography, we incorporated more stylised resources and more difficult steps, continuing the progression of the level.<\/p>\n<p>The choreography was performed at the final show in June.<\/p>\n<h3>2022-2023 Course<\/h3>\n<p>The students at this level already had a previous technical foundation, so during the course we continued reinforcing it in order to keep progressing.<\/p>\n<p>We progressively increased the <strong>complexity and speed of the footwork<\/strong>, as well as working on <strong>body quiebros, hip movements and turns<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>During the first term, we worked on <strong>\u201cZorongo gitano\u201d by Carmen Linares<\/strong>. The four-count comp\u00e1s was already familiar to the students, but on this occasion we worked at a faster tempo and with greater complexity, requiring more coordination.<\/p>\n<p>The choreography was performed in December.<\/p>\n<p>During the second term, we worked on a <strong>twelve-count comp\u00e1s<\/strong>, specifically <strong>Sole\u00e1 por Buler\u00edas<\/strong>. Although the comp\u00e1s was not particularly fast, the character of this palo presented a greater challenge, as it required strength, expressiveness and a certain sense of firmness and rigidity in the movements.<\/p>\n<p>The choreography used was <strong>\u201cEl pr\u00edncipe de la Alameda\u201d by Israel Fern\u00e1ndez<\/strong>. During the second and third terms, we continued working on and perfecting the material learned, reviewing the Zorongo choreography practically every day.<\/p>\n<h3>2021-2022 Course<\/h3>\n<p>During the first term, we worked on a <strong>choreography por Alegr\u00edas<\/strong> to the track <strong>\u201cLas Puertas de Gades\u201d by Encarna Anillo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We began by reinforcing the technique previously worked on, especially work on the <strong>twelve-count comp\u00e1s and mixed compases<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the course, we practised <strong>footwork exercises<\/strong> every day, progressively increasing their complexity and speed as the group progressed.<\/p>\n<p>We also worked on different variations of <strong>arm<\/strong> exercises, body quiebros and hip movements applied to different marcajes.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, we worked on variations of marcajes and short sequences over the <strong>twelve-count comp\u00e1s<\/strong>, with the aim of continuing to develop coordination and mastery of the comp\u00e1s.<\/p>\n<h3>2020-2021 Course<\/h3>\n<p>The Level 2 students already had some previous flamenco training, so during this course we continued working daily on technique and the different compases.<\/p>\n<p>During the first term, we worked on a choreography por <strong>Alegr\u00edas<\/strong> to the track <strong>\u201cLa noche no se me acaba\u201d by Alicia Gil<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We also prepared a <strong>Christmas carol por Buler\u00edas<\/strong> for Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>During the second term, we worked on the <strong>binary comp\u00e1s<\/strong> por <strong>Tanguillos de C\u00e1diz<\/strong>, paying particular attention to its lively and festive character.<\/p>\n<p>The choreography was created using the track <strong>\u201cTanguillos de C\u00e1diz\u201d<\/strong>, from the CD <strong>Baile Flamenco by Jos\u00e9 Galv\u00e1n<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>During the third term, we worked on the <strong>ternary comp\u00e1s<\/strong>, with a <strong>Fandango by Camar\u00f3n de la Isla<\/strong>, specifically <strong>\u201cFandangos de Huelva \u2013 De Alosno\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>What are the basic-level flamenco classes like?<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>Flamenco Zoom classes at basic level<\/strong> follow a progression that allows students to continue developing the technique acquired during the beginner stage and take on increasingly complete exercises and choreographies.<\/p>\n<p>During the classes, we work on different exercises and combinations, progressively increasing the difficulty as the course progresses.<\/p>\n<p>The classes include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Warm-up and stretching<\/strong> to prepare the body before technical work.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Footwork exercises<\/strong>, progressively increasing in complexity and speed.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Arm and hand exercises<\/strong>, with different variations.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Marcajes, paseos and sequences<\/strong> to improve coordination and knowledge of the comp\u00e1s.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Review of the material covered<\/strong> during previous classes.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Flamenco choreographies<\/strong> adapted to the basic level, applying the technical and rhythmic resources learned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Tips for following Flamenco Zoom classes from home<\/h2>\n<p>To get the most out of your <strong>online flamenco classes<\/strong>, it is important to have a suitable space where you can move freely and work correctly on your footwork.<\/p>\n<p>We also recommend using a suitable floor for flamenco practice.
